Day 21, 22 August 2011 – Favorite book from your childhood

There can only be but one-- The Crusader: The story of Richard the Lionheart by Alma Power-Waters. It made Richard Plantagenet, Coeur-de-Lion, my childhood hero. My earliest memory of this book is of hiding it in my Grade One textbook and reading it instead of paying attention to the boring ABCs being taught to my classmates. I was six years old. :D The reason I remember it so clearly is that my seatmate tried to look at what I was reading and said that it must be a boring book because it didn't have a lot of pictures in it! I was like, but this is a beautiful story, see, it's about this prince who grows up to become a king... and she's like, whatever, it has no pictures, it's boring.
