30 Days of Classics
Day 10, 11 August 2011 – Favorite classic book
What comes to mind when I see the word "classic"? How do you define a classic? :D The one book that's really stuck with me that I can call a "classic" is Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. You've got King John, Robin Hood, villainous knights, a jester, a swineherd, a merry friar, a proud father-- two proud fathers, two beautiful damsels in distress [although I agreed with the hero's choice when I was younger, I've reconsidered my stance now], and my favorite king wandering around incognito. You've got tournaments, feasts, kidnappings, intrigues, a siege and a sensational trial. No wonder I still reread it from time to time.
