Compiling a list of playlist suggestions for a friend on Rescreatu, I looked at my YouTube playlist and decided to go look for more songs.

While I was there, I kept remembering all these old songs that I used to hear on the radio at night before I fell asleep... songs such as Starlight Express and Bright Eyes, and the magnificently soaring duet "Only You" also from the musical Starlight Express. The last time I'd heard "Only You" on the radio was way back in 2002!

Then I thought to look up an old song by ABBA, but I didn't know the title; I used to call it "like a roller in the ocean" because that was the first line of the chorus. It was especially memorable because there is a spoken part, a sort of quote, at the beginning of the song:

"They say, a restless body can hide a peaceful soul
a voyager, or a sailor, they both have a distant goal.
If I explore the heavens or if I search inside,
well, it really doesn't matter, as long as I can tell myself
I've always... tried."

This song was on one of the few cassette tapes my family had when I was a child; I used to hear them all day in and day out and so memorized the quote. I love it so much that it has become one of my little philosophies in life. The weird thing is, I came across an old notebook of my father's from his college days. There, inside the cover, carefully inked and illustrated, was that same quote. Apparently it holds as much meaning for my dad as it does for me.

I found that song on YouTube earlier... its real title is "Move On." The more I listened to it, the more I realized that the lyrics that had stuck in my head were all garbled. The song was even better than I remembered!

Not only did I stumble on "Move On" on YouTube, but I also found "Only You" and one other video... "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" sung by Glenn Medeiros instead of George Benson. I can't remember the last time I saw this video, but it was way way back in my student days. I saw it only once or twice on MTV, usually MTV Classic, but it was such pure eye candy I wanted to watch it again, and again, and again... I wonder what happened to Glenn Medeiros?

Anyway, here are three videos, three songs I've never forgotten. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
