Aaand, we're back to the oldies but goodies this week. Or at least it's an oldie to some people; this is the first time I'm reading this book, and only because I'm in love with the hero, ahaha. He's up there on my list of fictional heroes I wish were real and in my life.
So here we have the book that tells how they met for the first time... Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane in Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers. I shall let the teaser do the talking this time.
"The stately volumes on his shelves, rank after rank of Saint, historian, poet, philosopher, mocked his impotence. All that wisdom and all that beauty, and they could not show him how to save the woman he imperiously wanted from a sordid death by hanging."
-p. 168, Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
I have heard so many good things about this series, but haven't yet read it.
My teaser this week is from a YA fantasy novel.
Ooh sounds intriguing! Nice teaser. Mine are at The Crowded Leaf.
Tsk. What good is wisdom if it isn't useful? I assume he does save her from hanging.
Mine is here.
Wonderful teaser! This has always been one of my favorites of all the Wimsey books. Makes me think it might be time for a re-read.
Here’s my teaser from Damaged.
I haven't read this series (yet), but this is an intriguing teaser. :) Mine's here
