*Sigh* Too much to do, again, so I'm sneaking in this blog post on my lunch break. I'm stuck at 16k words on my NaNoWriMo entry, mainly because I really need to find time to write. Maybe I should put up a sign saying "Do Not Disturb Upon Penalty Of Death: Writer At Work." LOL.
Anyway, Lord Peter Wimsey has grown to be one of my favorite characters of late. Although he has been criticized as "too perfect" --I read somewhere that he was supposed to have been Dorothy L. Sayers' idea of a perfect man-- the books he is in make for some awfully good reading.
I stumbled on this old paperback copy of "Thrones, Dominations" in Booksale-- it is the last Lord Peter Wimsey book; Dorothy L. Sayers' last (and unfinished) book, which was completed by Jill Paton Walsh in 1998; and the source of our teaser for today.
"Rosamund Harwell, her fingers perilously clenched about the thin stem of a Waterford wine-glass, was suffering the torture of the damned. Through a cheerful barrage of conversation put up by the three men beside her, she could hear fragments of what her father was saying to Harriet."
-p.77, "Thrones, Dominations" by Dorothy L. Sayers and Jill Paton Walsh
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Sounds like an intersting read!
