I should have made this book a teaser for Christmas, but then I went and read something else. Consider it my Three Kings present to everyone, then.
The movie was one of my favorite movies ever, but I didn't know it was a book -- an old, old book! 1880! -- at first, until I found this.
No one, be it remembered, seeks the desert for a pleasure-ground. Life and business traverse it by paths along which the bones of things dead are strewn as so many blazons.
- p. 12, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ by Lew Wallace
The book may be downloaded for free here.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Nice teaser.
My teaser can be found here
Looks like a great book. Haven't read the movie either. You can find my teaser at The Bookish Snob
Great teaser! I have never read Ben Hur, though I've spent a lot of time looking for the fabled red Volkswagen in the background of the movie's chariot race scene. (: Never did see it - I'm pretty sure it must be an urban myth. Anyway, mine comes from a new Swedish crime novel that is being released in the US today: Three Seconds by Roslund and Hellstrom. Here's the link.
Nice one! I like the film & have seen it a few times, but I have not read the book.
My teaser is here, if you want to take a look:http://abookblogofonesown.blogspot.com/2011/01/teaser-tuesday-412011.html

Mine is here: http://storytreasury.wordpress.com/2011/01/04/teasertuesday
