Just taking some time to post this before leaving the office for the day! I can't say too often how much I love the late Madeleine L'Engle's books... there is something healing about them, even when they tackle pain and death and sorrow.
L'Engle is perhaps best known for her Newbery Award book A Wrinkle in Time, which is from the first part of her Kairos books. However, since I discovered the second part of her Kairos books, as well as the Chronos books, I began to appreciate more fully the ability to heal, to be serene, to be good, even in the midst of catastrophe, even when you are shouting out in anger against something that you cannot comprehend the reason that it was meted upon you.
One of these books is Troubling a Star, whence our teaser for today was taken.
"I'd half slept through the words when she sang in our hotel room in San Sebastian, but now I was paying attention.
All things by immortal power,
near or far,
hiddenly
to each other linked are,
that thou canst not stir a flower
without troubling of a star."
-p. 146, "Troubling a Star" by Madeleine L'Engle
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Looks like a good read!
