I thought I noticed it on my own, but it seems I'm not the only one who thinks of Diane Duane as a blend of Diana Wynne Jones' fantastic detail and Madeleine L'Engle's ability to tackle painful subjects with compassion and taste. *Sigh* Rereading another Young Wizards book this week.

This book reminds me a bit of Madeleine L'Engle's "A Ring of Endless Light"... if Vicky Austin were a young wizard. Today's teaser comes from "Deep Wizardry."

'But with the sureness of practice she rode the danger, knowing the wonder to which it would bring her, reveling in her defiance of her fear. And in more than that: for Kit was across the circle from her, eyes on hers, matching her word for word and power for power--- peer and friend and fellow-wizard, afraid as she was, and still willing to dare, for the delight of what lay on the other side of the magic---"
-pp.220-221, "Deep Wizardry" by Diane Duane

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

    Not really into fantasy and magic but one thing I noticed, too (comparing with L'Engle) is that they both write such a long sentence...and they kinda make sense! hehehe.

    Thanks for the visit. :)

    Did you know the author's on Twitter, Fran? And she's very nice too :) I was starstruck when she replied to my tweets!

    I love your teaser. I'll have to check this one out. I grew up reading Madeleine L'Engle with my family - I have really fond memories of reading her books. :)
