Geurae. It has been a while since I made that last post, and I've added quite a number of songs to my playlist in the meantime. Oh, who am I kidding. It's been almost a year! New songs get made, old goodies get rediscovered. So how have I updated my playlist in the meantime? You know my playlist is mostly made up of songs I've heard in dramas, right?
15. One More Time - Tree Bicycle
Drama: Boys Over Flowers
Country: South Korea
I know, it's an old song but it grew on me after I listened to it a few times. The melody is really catchy. I found myself humming it and singing some of the lyrics and then I had to go back and recall what song I heard them from. So I figured I might as well put it on my playlist.
14. Living Like A Dream - Jaejoong
Drama: Dr. Jin
Country: South Korea
Because basically whenever Jaejoong is in a drama or sings one of the OSTs, I end up listening to the soundtrack. I wasn't able to finish Dr. Jin, but the song has stayed with me.
13. For You It's Separation, For Me It's Waiting - Jaejoong
Drama: Sungkyunkwan Scandal
Country: South Korea
Another Jaejoong song, but then I love Sungkyunkwan Scandal so much-- the drama is one of my all-time favorites.
12. Geurae Useobwa (So Give Me A Smile) - M Signal
Drama: Heartstrings (You've Fallen For Me)
Country: South Korea
Yes, so why wasn't this on the first list? It's because it took me a while to appreciate it, with all the CNBlue songs on the YFFM soundtrack. But now it's the song that starts off my playlist because it's a nice way to start the day.
11. I Will Protect You - Jaejoong
Drama: Protect the Boss
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://pinkrazy.wordpress.com/2011/08/10/jyj-jaejoong-ill-protect-you-lyrics-and-translation/
The first Jaejoong song that made it to this playlist, actually. Why are his songs so pensive? But this one is nice when you need a background to think to.
10. Let's Walk Together - TOUCH
Drama: Ma Boy
Country: South Korea
Well, I really don't know if Ma Boy has an official soundtrack, but since this song does appear in the drama, and I tend to associate it with the drama (especially with the music video), it ended up on my drama playlist. I liked Ma Boy, and this is a nice upbeat song.
9. I Should Love You - Jiro Wang
Drama: Drama Go Go Go
Country: Taiwan
Translation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc-qDl1nAnY
Ah, Jiro. Where have you been all my life? :D I'm currently on a Jiro Wang kick, so I've been catching up on his dramas, and naturally, the soundtracks. Drama Go Go Go tends to get draggy after a while, but the song is good! Can't find an authoritative translation, but if you watch it subbed, there's a good translation.
8. NAMInoYUKUSAKI - The Ricecookers
Drama: Keizoku 2: SPEC
Country: Japan
Ah yes, this song grew on me after I started watching SPEC. Which, I admit, I'm watching (I'm not through with it yet, these things take time) mainly because I'm also catching up on Kamiki Ryunosuke's work. That kid is something special when it comes to acting, and he's what, nineteen? This song is awesome, as well. Love the beat.
7. Pretend We Never Loved - Jiro Wang
Drama: Absolute Darling
Country: Taiwan
Another Jiro song (and I love the video). I haven't watched Absolute Darling or any of its previous incarnations because I can't bear sad stories, but I know what it's about and I did read the manga off and on. Just from his previous works that I've seen, Jiro's a good choice for the Naito character because he has this dual air of hotness and innocent charm-- a potent combination. No, that's totally not the fangirl in me speaking. The song is also spot on.
6. Closer - Taeyeon
Drama: To The Beautiful You
Country: South Korea
Another song that grew on me-- another addition to my lullaby playlist. Sweet and wistful and lovely to listen to. I know TTBY was a mess-- it was a pretty mess, though, the actors were cute, and the soundtrack is lovely.
5. Stand Up - J Min
Drama: To The Beautiful You
Country: South Korea
Another nice upbeat song to start the day. I already said I love the TTBY soundtrack, didn't I? :D
4. My Love - Lee Jonghyun
Drama: A Gentleman's Dignity
Country: South Korea
Loved this song from the first time I heard it. I watched AGD off and on... mostly Collin (Lee Jonghyun)'s parts. :D Yes, I'm a CNBlue fan and it shows. Jonghyun won a Best Soundtrack award with this song, which makes me doubly happy. His songs (see I Will Forget You in the previous list for another example) are often sad, but they have this underlying strength, and there's always a ray of hope at the end ("Even if I cry now, I will smile a little later"; "My love whom I'm grateful for, who I will remember even if I erase everything else..."), which makes me predict confidently that they're going to be around for a long, long time.
3. In Your Eyes - Onew
Drama: To The Beautiful You
Country: South Korea
As always... this song grew on me. Lovely rendition by Onew, the melody is catchy, and I keep finding myself humming it at odd times.
2. It's Me - Sunny & Luna
Drama: To The Beautiful You
Country: South Korea
Catchy as heck, and it captures TTBY very well. :D
1. Mo Mo - Fahrenheit
Drama: ToGetHer
Country: Taiwan
This is currently the most-played song on this playlist-- it both starts and ends my day. I already said I'm on a Jiro Wang kick, didn't I... and this is the song that started it all. I admit I started watching ToGetHer mainly because I like Rainie Yang, but I ended up watching it right through to the end because the characters were really something special. I love that drama, and this song is lovely and very important to the story. I like the Billasubs translation best, because I think it's the one that best expresses MARS's feelings for Momo, but I can't find a copy of it, so I guess those who want to see that translation will have to watch the drama first.
