Last Song Syndrome (LSS) is a term that was coined to refer to that song you can't get out of your head, the one you find yourself humming or singing mindlessly all through the day. Sounds familiar? Because I love TV series so much, I find that their soundtracks are the songs that keep giving me LSS... so why not share the love? What's your LSS playlist? Here's mine.

15. Me Huele A Soledad - MDO
Drama: La Mujer De Judas (Altagracia)
Country: Venezuela
Lyrics: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/mdo/me_huele_a_soledad.html
(Cannot find an authoritative translation)

La Mujer De Judas, or Altagracia, was shown in the Philippines in the early 2000s. That's how long I've been carrying this song around in my head! I loved this drama because it was something different - a romance mystery / suspense / ghost story. Also, there was Juan Carlos Garcia, who played Salomon. It's the first foreign-language song (aside from English) that I learned by heart.

14. Himig ng Pag-ibig - Yeng Constantino
Drama: Diyosa
Country: Philippines
Lyrics: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/asin/himig_ng_pag_ibig.html

I already loved the original version by Asin, but when I first heard this version, I loved it. I didn't watch Diyosa that much, but I could listen to this song forever.

13. A Goose's Dream - Suzy
Drama: Dream High
Also sung by Insooni for Beethoven Virus
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://kreah-craze.com/gooses-dream-lyrics-singer-insooni-beethoven-virus/

I think Insooni sang it first, but I first heard it in Dream High, so I'm going with Suzy. That scene where her character Hye Mi reprises the song for Eun Jung's character Baek Hee is one of my favorites in the drama. Plus, it's a song about having dreams and standing by them, so all in all, it's not a bad song to have stuck in your head.

12. Love is Punishment - K. Will
Drama: Shining Inheritance (Brilliant Legacy)
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://watchmyblog.wordpress.com/2010/01/23/love-is-punishment-%E2%80%93-k-will/

It's a sad song and rather sentimental, but Shining Inheritance is special to me because it caused my k-drama addiction and made me a Lee Seung Gi fan. :D

11. Star - Kang Min Hyuk
Drama: Heartstrings (You've Fallen For Me)
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://cnbluestorm.com/2011/07/06/audiolyricstrans-cnblue%E2%80%99s-kang-minhyuk-%E2%80%9Cstar%E2%80%9D-for-%E2%80%98heartstrings%E2%80%99-ost/

A simple song, really, but very infectious. Plus, Kang Min Hyuk has a charming voice. This drama accounts for a lot of my LSS songs, really, so kudos to whoever chose, wrote, and composed the soundtrack!

10. Promise - A.N. Jell
Drama: He's Beautiful (You're Beautiful)
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://www.emagasia.com/korean-songs-and-lyrics-anjell-promise

A.N.Jell is the name of the band in the drama, made up of Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Suk), Shin Woo (Jung Yong Hwa), Jeremy (Lee Hong Ki) and Minam (Park Shin Hye). I love this drama because it's funny and cute, and the song always makes me go and watch it again. Oh, and it made me a fan of the JYH-PSH couple, and also of CN Blue and FT Island. Talk of the ripple effect, yes?

9. Jaywalking - Sung Joon
Drama: Shut Up Flower Boy Band
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://chacha-31.blogspot.com/2012/02/hangulromanization-sung-jun-jaywalking.html#axzz1y4NpCPxu
Translation: http://zafirahoney.blogspot.com/2012/02/jaywalking-sung-joon-english.html

I regret I still haven't watched SUFBB yet, but from all accounts it's quite good. This song is a little too rock than my usual listening fare, but it's catchy, and there's always that last verse: Nae nae nae nae gaseumi teok... My my my my heart goes thud. Thud indeed.

8. The Person Living In My Heart - Yi Soo
Drama: Shining Inheritance (Brilliant Legacy)

Another song from Shining Inheritance, as it's also the first K-drama whose soundtrack I paid attention to. This is more upbeat than Love Is Punishment, at least; a song I find myself humming when I feel happy.

7. Dream High - Dream High cast
Drama: Dream High
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://elduaha.wordpress.com/2011/04/12/lyrics-dream-high-ost-hangul-romanizationtranslation/

Another song from Dream High-- its title theme, in fact. Also another upbeat song about dreams... I guess we can never have enough of those.

6. I Will Forget You - Park Shin Hye
Drama: Heartstrings (You've Fallen For Me)
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://genoveva280996.blogspot.com/2011/04/cn-blue-ill-forget-you-lyrics.html

Another interesting bit of meta in this drama, because this song was originally by CN Blue, whose lead singer Jung Yong Hwa plays Lee Shin. The CN Blue version is sung by Lee Jong Hyun, though, not Yong Hwa. It really is so LSS-inducing that I found myself memorizing it without meaning to! There's also an English version, Teardrops in the Rain, but the lyrics don't have the same meaning... it's pretty, but I like the Korean lyrics better.

5. Winter Child - Suzy
Drama: Dream High
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://kpopquote.wordpress.com/2011/03/14/lyric-winter-child-suzy-miss-a-hangul-romanization-english/

The first Korean song I memorized. There. :D Short and sweet, and because I was born during the Christmas season, I've kind of appropriated it for my own.

4. Smile (Comfort Song) - Jung Yong Hwa
Drama: Heartstrings (You've Fallen For Me)

The second Korean song I memorized. When I have trouble sleeping, this is the song I listen to, because it's so sweet. And it's the biggest reason why I love this simple little drama so much!

3. Suddenly - Kim Bo Kyung
Drama: City Hunter
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://michyeoga.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/city-hunter-ostpart4kim-bo-kyung-suddenly/

And just like that, this song was suddenly in my head. :D I like Kim Bo Kyung's voice because it sounds tough and sweet and full of emotion, and I find myself humming this song at odd times. It drives me crazy because I then have to go look up the lyrics since I can never get them right. LOL.

2. You've Fallen For Me - Jung Yong Hwa
Drama: Heartstrings (You've Fallen For Me)
Country: South Korea
Lyrics: http://irena040506.wordpress.com/2011/07/17/jung-yonghwa-youve-fallen-for-me-lyrics-translation/

The happy song for me. :D It never fails to lift my mood (gomapseubnida, Jung Yong Hwa-sshi)-- so when I'm humming it, that means I feel good!

1. Alone - Shimokawa Mikuni
TV Series: Gensomaden Saiyuki
Country: Japan
Lyrics: http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/gsaiyuki/alone.htm

Ha. Bet that threw you for a loop. This has got to be the most-played song on my personal playlist, that's how much I love it. It's from my favorite anime, and it's the only Japanese song that I've learned so far.

Special mention: You'll Be Safe Here - Rivermaya
Drama: Spirits
Country: Philippines
Lyrics: http://www.elyrics.net/read/r/rivermaya-lyrics/you_ll-be-safe-here-lyrics.html

I know, I said "fifteen." But even if I don't hum this song that much nowadays, it's still very powerful and LSS-inducing. People might even forget the drama, but this song lives on.
