Ah, Tuesday. I almost forgot again. It's past 6 pm here and I'm taking a few minutes to write this before I go home for the day.
Book Fair was fun, though exhausting. I went to a conference in the same building from eight to five, then hung out at the company booth from five till it was time to pack up and go home. My book haul, though, was substantial, both in the book fair and the mall's bookstores.
Anyway. Happy to have found two more books to add to my collections... one of them is The Saddlemaker's Wife by Earlene Fowler, and the other is the source of our teaser for today. Apparently I've been reading this author's books for over a year now and didn't know she won the Hugo Award four times and the Nebula twice (I fall to my knees in awe).
Today's book has been making me sputter into whatever I'm drinking while I'm reading it, because the author has a facility with humor that really really makes me enjoy (as in major major enjoy) her books. Apparently it was rejected four times before being accepted by a publisher and published in 1986... I'd guess the ones who rejected it would have been kicking themselves for the next two decades or so, because not only did it become a best-seller, but it kicked off the whole series that went on to become bestsellers and award winners. Our teaser for today is taken from The Warrior's Apprentice, part of the Hugo Award-winning Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold.
Elena was observing him anxiously. "What's the matter, Miles? You don't look happy. We won!"
A true Vor, Miles told himself severely, does not bury his face in his liegewoman's breasts and cry-- even if he is at a convenient height for it.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Oh that's PERFECT!! What a funny teaser. Thanks for sharing because it has me smiling :)
Here's my Tuesday Teaser
I've never read anything by Bujold, but I really should. She sounds entertaining!
Here's my teaser: The Red Tree by Caitlin R Kiernan
